Obama turns the White House lawn into a Garden

For the first time in 60 years, the White House is turning a section of its finely trimmed lawn into an organic garden, setting a great example for those of us who are still stuck in useless lawn world.

In the Chicago Tribune: "This year, the vegetables served at the White House will be as locally grown as possible--right on the South Lawn..." read the rest of the article here.

I'm proud of this, aren't you? I think it says something - maybe I'm stretching this but I think getting back to basics is a good thing. For the 1st time in years I'm planting some tomatoes, peppers and I'm not sure what all else. I grew up on a farm back in the day. There is something really pure about it.

Yes yes, I am proud too. It is exciting to see these 'back to basics' values you speak of represented at the White House.

Right on!

So happy to see this manifestation of food not lawns at the white house....
lets hope the tide keeps rising.
