The focus of Barefoot Princess is to share resources, news, and concepts of sustainable, regenerative culture. This journey began perhaps with my first yoga class in 2006, and continued as I rediscovered my roots and followed my heart's visions and inspirations to several intentional communities throughout the United States- some who's focus was yoga, others sustainability education. The winds have blown me to magical places, most recently to a somewhat fragmented town in New Jersey, where I will be helping to inspire community and conscious evolution through personal and community wellness, yoga and other intentional gatherings. This blog chronicles my journeys, with topics including travel, going local, food and recipes, herbal medicine, indigenous wisdom, books, events, and so much more... It is my hope and my intention that what I share here will help gravitate the reader towards her or his fullest happiness and fulfillment.
My journey into 'natural living' began long before I was born... As a girl my grandmother suffered from health problems doctors were sure would take her life at a young age. Refusing to take their prescribed medications which she says would have "traded one illness for another," she hit the library and researched what little information existed at that time about preventative health care. What she learned saved her life. She cut out salt and red meat. She ate only fresh vegetables, whole grains, nuts and fruits. She avoided any packaged item with an ingredient she didn't recognize. Now in her 80's, she still goes to the gym... She still questions doctors and does her own research... She still reads up on the latest nutrition studies... She still enjoys a glass of red wine and a piece of dark chocolate every day. Conscious, healthy living is in my blood. This is my passion... This is my heritage...
Are you a princess? I asked. She said I'm much more than that but you don't have a name for it yet here on Earth (StoryPeople)
If you want to build a ship don't herd people together to collect wood and don't assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea.
