November 2006
It was just a few days before I embarked on my spontaneous journey west, by car, with two beautiful strangers from a far away land. I wondered what was in store for when I arrived in Oregon. Curious as to what experiences the trip would bring. Decided it was best not to think, to not plan, to refrain from imposing human input on fate, and instead to see where the ride takes me. I think we think too much, and sometimes it is best to not think at all.
It is rumored that where they came from there are glaciers the size of skyscrapers and they say that the sun never sleeps in the summer, and hides all winter long. We were all ready and willing and open to all experiences coming our way, and I, with an intense desire to give love and receive love, found myself at the beginning of what could be a sad ending.
And before I knew it we were already in Chapel Hill, contra dancing and binge drinking with our southern cousins. Again I awoke without the recollection of going to sleep. (This would be for the last time.) The weather was quite unusual for a typical November day, clear skies, a blazing sun and resulting heat that made me feel like we had traveled back into summer.
A chocolate candy left me with the words
"In dreams, as in love, all is possible"
translated in 4 other languages, just in case.
A 12 hour drive until we reached our longed for visions of Taos and the surrounding countryside. What were we searching for?
historical heartbreak,
and a reminder of the
simplistic reality I
hoped to create for
myself one day.
